Austintown police are investigating who might have stolen copper piping from the boiler room of Lloyd Elementary.

Environmental Protection Systems of Girard is removing asbestos from the school and discovered the missing copper on Aug. 20. The crime is believed to have occurred the night of Aug. 19.

Lloyd Elementary on Norquest Boulevard is one of two other elementary schools in Austintown being torn down. Lynn-Kirk Elementary is the only school being kept as an early learning center. The two new K-2 3-5 buildings will be opening on Sept. 4.

We need to keep a better eye on these schools until they are completely down. As soon as Davis closed it became a haven for criminal activity. Don't let that happen in your neighborhoods!
