Police Wednesday arrested one of two remaining members of an East Side street gang secretly indicted on drug, weapon and gang charges last week.

Dontrell McCreary, 19, was found about 2:45 p.m. in a Dryden Avenue home.

Members of the Mahoning Valley Violent Crimes Task Force went to 1362 Dryden Ave. to arrest McCreary. When they got there, a man ran out the back door and into the woods, reports said. The officers were not sure if that person was McCreary so they chased after him on foot. One of those officers injured his knee and was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center by ambulance, according to police reports.

Reports said there were at least eight other people inside the home and as they tried to leave other officers were called to stop them, reports said. A police dog was called in to search for McCreary but he was instead found by an officer as he tried to go out the back door, reports said, and he was taken into custody.

While officers searched inside the home, they found a .380-caliber and a .40-caliber semiautomatic handgun, reports said.

Two of the eight in the home — Daron Little, 47 and Charlise Gibson, 40 — were arrested on failure-to-appear warrants from Youngstown Municipal Court. The man who ran, Shaquille Jones, 19, was issued a summons for obstructing official business.

Eleven members of the Vic Boys gang or their associates already are in custody and were arraigned in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court on charges ranging from drug trafficking to engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity to being felons in possession of firearms. Police said the indictments were the result of a year-long investigation into the gang, which operates around the Victory Arms housing complex.

A woman who was indicted is still on the run.
