Staff report

A man was able to dupe both a Boardman woman and Taylor Kia by selling a car that didn’t belong to him.

Taylor Kia reported the incident about 11 a.m. Thursday. The suspect earlier had come into the dealership and attempted to trade in a vehicle, according to Boardman police.

The man was told when the dealership was conducting the paperwork for the sale that he did not own the vehicle and would have to get a signature from the registered owner to complete the transaction, according to the report.

The man was able to obtain the signature and then returned to the dealership and completed the sale getting $5,520.91, according to the report.
