Lowellville names Bonacci new police chief

LOWELLVILLE

Beginning Sept. 2, Ryan Bonacci will officially take over as the village’s police chief.

Bonacci, who was appointed this week by Mayor James Iudiciani Sr., will act as interim chief of the department for the remainder of the month. He replaces former Chief William Vance.

Vance retired Aug. 2 after 27 years with the Lowellville Police Department.

A 1999 graduate of Ursuline High School, Bonacci received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Gannon University. He served as a police officer for six years in Newport News, Va., then for two years in Lowellville before being appointed chief.

“I’m very honored that the mayor and council had the faith in me to select me for the job,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to working with them to better our community.”
