MERCER, Pa.

A 15-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a driver while fishing along the site of a family pond at 11:45 p.m. Thursday in Mercer County.

The unidentified boy was fishing with Stephanie L. Rife, 37, of Kettering, Ohio, when Brittany Ann Raskowsky, 25, of Grange Hall Road in New Castle, Pa., for an unknown reason drove off the left side of the roadway, traveled about 240 feet through a pasture field and struck Rife and the boy, according to a report from Pennsylvania State Police in Mercer.

Raskowsky was charged with driving under the influence and was later released to family, according to the report. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are pending against her.

Both the boy and Rife were taken to Grove City Medical Center. The boy was pronounced dead about an hour after the incident, and Rife was treated for moderate injuries, according to the report.
