Canfield man, woman charged with sexual abuse of young boy

YOUNGSTOWN — A detective says a Canfield Township couple arrested today on charges they repeatedly sexually abused a young boy had been carrying out the abuse for at least the last two and a half years, maybe longer.

Terry Martin, who just retired as a detective with the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office and who was assigned to county Children Services, said the boy’s father first came to detectives in late March because his son had been saying the last couple of years he had been touched inappropriately.

A county grand jury on Thursday indicted Liza Timm, 51, and her boyfriend, Jeffrey D. Evans, 44, both of Meadowood Drive, on five counts of rape, 10 counts of gross sexual imposition and five counts of endangering children.

The rape counts carry maximum sentences of life in prison without parole.
