Kokrak 4-over par in first round

Published: Thu, August 8, 2013 @ 5:05 p.m.

— Jason Kokrak shot 4-over par 74 Thursday in the first round of the PGA Championship.

The Warren JFK graduate is playing in his first major as a professional. He had previously qualified for the U.S. Open as an amateur in 2007.

Kokrak birdied two holes - No. 6 and No. 16 - at Oak Hill Country Club. He started on the back nine and record four straight pars before a double bogey on No. 14 and a bogey on No. 15 to go 3-over.

Kokrak then birdied No. 16 and completed the back nine with a bogey on No. 18.

Kokrak had six pars on the front side. He sandwiched bogeys on No. 5 and No. 7 around a birdie on No. 6.

Kokrak is tied for 119th, nine shots behind leader Jim Furyk, who shot 5-under Thursday. Adam Scott also is 5-under, but he was still on the course when play was suspended at 4:25 p.m. because of impending bad weather.
