Youngstown man charged with threatening friend over money

YOUNGSTOWN — Police arrested a 61-year-old city man for threatening a former friend with an unloaded handgun shortly after 1 p.m. today.

According to a police report, Steve Jenkins of Portland Avenue allegedly pulled a handgun from a hip holster and threatened to kill the man and his wife during an argument over an unpaid $50 loan. The incident took place outside a Portland Avenue home on the West Side.

Jenkins, who has a concealed-carry permit, is charged with aggravated menacing. Officers located the gun’s magazine, containing five rounds, in Jenkins’ car.
