The seventh-grade Canfield Village Middle School sax trio performed on Saturday Light Brigade radio station July 11 in the Childrens Museum of Pittsburgh.
The trio is made up of students Brock Cerneka, Jared Albright and Garrett Kuchmaner. The trio was invited to play on the air after Larry Berger, the founder and executive director of the Saturday Light Brigade saw a video of the boys playing at the Ohio Music Educators Association District Five- Middle School Solo and Ensemble Adjudicated Event. The students scored a superior at the event after playing “German Dance” by Von Weber.
On Saturday Light Bridage, the trio performed “The Erie Canal,” arranged by John Kinyon, “Civil War Marching Tune,” arranged by John Kinyon, “English Ballad,” arranged by John Kinyon and “American Patrol,” arranged by John Kinyon.
James Volenik, Canfield Village Middle School band director said the trio is a great group.
“They work very hard at knowing their part and how it fits with the other two members. All three like to be challenged with dificult music that requries them to practice outside of rehearsal time,” said Volenik. “I am so proud of these guys for learning a lot of music to play on the radio show.”
