The members of the Austintown Kiwanis Club recently voted to become involved in the Ohio Department of Transportation or ODOT’s Adopt-A-Highway program. The club was approved to participate and will be responsible for Route 46 in Austintown, both the east and west sides of the road from Mahoning Avenue to Kirk Road.
Those involved were told about safety vests, wearing heavy work gloves, work shoes or boots and lightly colored clothing. Also discussed were what items were to be picked up and not to be picked up, what to do in an emergency and how to be safe.
Kiwanis is an international organization that focuses on ways to help children and local communities. Any one interested in becoming a member of Austintown Kiwanis Club can call 330-793-3087. The club meets weekly at noon at Austintown Community Church for one hour. There is a guest speaker at all meetings and lunch is made and served by the ladies of the church.
