GM Cruze sets another sales record
For the third straight month, the Lordstown-built Chevrolet Cruze set a record in July, with a 70 percent increase in year-over-year sales, General Motors Co. reported today.
In its best July sales month since it was introduced in 2010, 25,447 Cruzes were sold — up from 14,954 at the same time last year.
The news comes after the model set an all-time monthly sales record in June by selling 32,871 units. The car had its best May sales month ever before that.
Overall, GM reported sales were up 16 percent in July. The company sold 234,071 vehicles in the U.S. last month.
Kurt McNeil, vice president of U.S. sales operations, said July was the company’s “most well-balanced month of the year” as GM’s small cars, trucks and family vehicles all had strong sales.
