New Castle Maennerchor receives state recognition

SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR The Pennsylvania State House of Representatives recently recognized New Castle’s Eintracht Maennerchor for its commitment to singing after a 30-minute concert by the group. The choir was founded in 1894 and is one of the nation’s oldest male singing groups. At a spring concert May 4 at the Eintracht Hall in New Castle, seven members will be awarded pins for 50 years of service with the group. In front, from left, are Danual Forsberg, director; Dr. James Bower; Donald Bowden; Nicholas Roman; William Both; Rep. Christopher Sainato, 9th Legislative District, Beaver and Lawrence counties; James Kaplan; Adam Pivovar; Ralph Minton; Mark Chirdon; and Lee Winter, choir president. In back are Timothy Lockley, William Benedict, Timothy Womer, Gerald Holzhauser, William Hall, Joseph Kraus, Larry Keith, Scott Winder, Robert Stoner, Daniel Reiber and Eugene Kaufman.
