Ex-Pa. doc guilty of molesting 2 reform schoolers
BUTLER, Pa. (AP) — A former western Pennsylvania doctor already serving six to 15 years in prison for sexually abusing a teen boy from 1989 to 1995 while working as a Boy Scout leader has now pleaded guilty to molesting two students at a reform school where he was a consulting physician.
Fifty-nine-year-old David Evanko pleaded guilty Monday and was sentenced to 5 1/2 to 14 1/2 years in prison — which will run concurrent to his previous sentence — for the Summit Academy abuse cases.
Evanko was arrested in 2009 after two brothers, now in their 30s, alleged they were molested when Evanko was a Scout leader. Charges involving one of those boys were dismissed due to the statute of limitations.
That investigation led to allegations by the reform school students, who were abused in 2009.
