Citywide revival

The Baptist Pastors’ Council of Youngstown and Vicinity will sponsor the annual citywide revival Sunday through Wednesday.

Day sessions will be at 10:30 a.m. at Antioch Baptist Church, 110 Funston St., where the Rev. Ernest Ellis is pastor. Evening sessions are scheduled at 6:30 p.m. at Elizabeth Baptist Church, 1210 Himrod Ave., where the Rev. J. Dwayne Heard is pastor.

Sessions are free and open to all. Pastor Henry McNeil is BPC president, and the Rev. Dr. Lewis Macklin is event coordinator.

Gospel concert

Beulah Baptist Church, 570 Sherwood Ave., will present a Gospel concert at 4 p.m. Sunday featuring John Lee and the Cliftons along with singing groups from the Valley.

The program is free and open to all.

Taize service

villa maria, pa.

Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center will host a Taize prayer service from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Magnificat Chapel.

Taize prayer is based on a ritual developed by an ecumenical community in France dedicated to prayer and simplicity. Taize is a Christian interdenominational prayer form that incorporates music, Scripture and silence. Musicians from the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, Pa., will provide the music.

Refreshments will be served after the service.

Honoring educators

Nevels Temple Church of God in Christ, 939 Elm St., will honor area educators and others who work with school-age children during a special service at 11 a.m. Sunday. Bishop Emmitt L. Nevels Sr. will conduct the service.

Bishop Nevels is presenting a series on the second Sunday to recognize various careers.

Speaker planned

Prophet George Perez, who ministers at New Life Assemblies of God Church in the Youngstown area, will speak when Youngstown Chapter of Igniting New Life Ministries, an interdenominational ministry, meets Monday at Elton Beard Cabin in Boardman Park, Route 224. Fellowship will begin at 6:30 p.m., with ministry at 7.

Musical program

Gospel Temple Baptist Church, 279 Whipple Ave., will host “An Evening in Song” at 6 p.m. today. Special guests will be Heavy Weights of Akron, One Accord, Voices of Praise, Shelley and Corinthians, Jody Daniels and Roosevelt Griffin.

Deacon ministry

Antioch Baptist Church, 110 Funston St., will conduct an ordination of two men for the deacon ministry during a service at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Rodney Davis and Olin Mallory, who have been in training for several years, will be ordained. The Rev. Ernest Ellis will officiate. Pastor Raymond Mason of Alpha & Omega First Baptist Church will be guest preacher, and its choir and congregation will participate.

Spring revival

Greater Liberty Baptist Church, 66th 10th St., will conduct a spring revival at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.

The Rev. James Bowie of Greater Friendship Baptist Church in Youngstown will speak. Deacons and choirs of the area will provide devotions and music. The Rev. Carl A. Anderson is pastor.

Pastor anniversary

Holy Bible Church of God will honor the Rev. Eleanor Felder for her 30th pastoral anniversary. A prayer breakfast will be at 9 a.m. April 20 at Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 505 Parkcliffe Ave., with keynote speaker the Rev. Dr. Lewis W. Macklin II, president of the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance of Youngstown and Vicinity. Tickets are $8. The Rev. Mrs. Felder is a past president and one of the original founders of ACTION. She was the first woman to serve as president of IMA. She is past vice president of the League of Women Voters and serves on the Juvenile Justice Center Citizens’ advisory board and the central committee of the Citizens for Public Service.

Theology on Tap

Theology on Tap, Mahoning County Chapter, will meet from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at Magic Tree Pub and Eatery, 7463 South Ave. Guest speaker will be Anthony Kobak on “Conversion of a Luke Warm Soul.” The group is for young adults age 18 to 39.
