Zimmerman’s mom pens letter on arrest anniversary

SANFORD, Fla. (AP) — The mother of Florida neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman has written a letter to the public that criticizes the justice system for her son’s arrest in the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin.

Gladys Zimmerman’s letter was written to coincide with the one-year anniversary of her son’s April 11, 2012, arrest. He’s accused of killing Martin, who was unarmed, in February 2012.

The letter was written in Spanish and translated by her son, Robert Zimmerman. He released it on his Twitter account.

Gladys Zimmerman says the day will “forever be remembered by the Zimmerman family as the day the justice system failed us as Americans.” She describes what she calls a “false narrative” that was developed as the heavily publicized case unfolded.

Zimmerman is scheduled to be tried on second-degree murder charges in June.

I'm sure George Zimmerman now wishes that he didn't have the gun on that fateful day.

I will never understand why this is such a big case. I will never understand why they called him a "White Hispanic".

There are kids dying everyday in the United States, mainly from young wannbe gangsters or being caught in the crossfire. Where is the outrage in the media on these? Where is the outrage from the black leaders about all the killings? They get a little article in the local newspapers and then the memorial and funeral and then on to the next. Why is this case so different? Because a "White Hispanic" killed a black teenager?

Just saying........

The difference is the police usually arrest somebody in a shooting like this. Instead they chose to talk about how good a guy Zimmerman is. If you don't see the difference it's because you don't want too.

Just curious how would the media describe Tiger Woods as a yellow negroe or Barak Obama as a black caucasion in a crime? I always thought Zimmerman looked more like a brown caucasion than a white hispanic. If you ask me the media is nuts with these labels.

"" Instead they chose to talk about how good a guy Zimmerman is.""

You have got to be kidding???????? Are you living under a rock? The media and blacks just about destroyed this guy. And explain the difference then? You still didn't answer my question, what makes this case so special then from all the other killings that happen on a daily basis? I'm waiting......

NO ONE knows what happened that night. Except the 2 parties involved. But still no one can answer my question, Why is this case so special???

And NOTHING about this case.....where's all the protest, outrage, hatred, tshirts, memorials, etc for this INNOCENT defenseless 13-month-old boy?????

We have a very sick society.....when a questionable "White Hispanic" self defense shooter has more hatred then these 2 ugly filthy devils. Don't see Jackson or Sharpton saying anything about this hate crime. Only when it benefits there race.

Life i will answer you one last time. Take your hood off and LISTEN. The boys that killed that baby were arrested immediately, and will be facing life in prison, so there is no reason to protest. It is sad it took a national protest to arrest somebody that chased a boy down and took the law into his own hand.

Where you there? Did you know what happened? Or are you just listening to what the Media brainwashes you with??? The only accounts you hear is from the media and you can really honestly believe what they throw at you? You must really be gullible to condemn a man from what your read in the papers and TV. And if Travis had a weapon or killed Zimmerman you think this would be such a huge ordeal? They show Zimmerman in a orange jail outfit and show a innocent 10 year old picture of Travis, real fair, huh? And still didn't answer my question, why this is such a big case? Everyday people are protecting themselves and some end up dead. smh at society today.
