Fitch track teams sweep quad meet

The Fitch boys and girls track teams swept a quad meet Tuesday, beating Mooney, Youngstown East and Warren JFK.

The girls squad scored 175 points to outdistance Mooney (34.5), Warren JF (20.5) and East (12). Leading the charge were double event winners Carissa Jenkins (1600 and 800) and Gabby Figueroa (shot put and discus). The Fitch relay teams won all four events.

In the boys meet, the Falcons (132.5) beat Mooney (60), East (26.5) and Warren JFK (24). Fitch won three of the four relays to help lead the way. Winning individual events were Nathan Bowlen (100), Bryce Baker (1600), Gary Gibson (200), Ben Devenport (3200), Billy Price (discus), Sam Ortz (high jump) and Dylan Latone (pole vault).

Fitch tennis team tops Salem

The Fitch boys tennis team earned a 3-2 victory over Salem on Tuesday.

After No. 3 singles player Anthony Sarachene won by forfeit, the Falcons swept both doubles matches to win the secure the team victory.

The team of Josh Herington and Austin Prestridge won 6-1 and 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. No. 2 doubles team of Brandon Fisher and Jake Stephens won by forfeit.

Little Falcons golf outing set

The Austintown Little Falcons Golf Outing will be May 26 at Pines Lake Golf Club in Hubbard. Registration will be from 7 to 8 a.m. and a shotgun start will be at 8:30 a.m. The outing will be done in a four-person scramble format. The cost is $70 per golfer and includes 18 holes, golf cart, beverages, snacks, breakfast, lunch and a dinner provided by O’Donalds Pub. ALF football, cheerleader registration

Registration for the Austintown Little Falcons football players and cheerleaders will be today, May 18, June 14 and July 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Austintown Township Hall on Ohltown Road. Boys and girls ages 6-12 are welcome if they are an Austintown resident or attend Austintown schools. New children must provide a copy of their birth certificate. Registration fee is $45 for the first child plus a mandatory $50 fundraiser. Siblings of the same family register free and pay only $10 for the mandatory fundraiser.

The Little Falcons are partnering with C.A.R.E. — Children Are Reunited Everyday — a non-profit organization headed by ALF Coach Antonio Page which will offer children access to certified tutorial and mentorship programs administered by qualified C.A.R.E.
