Journalists wield power selectively

The Vindicator’s excerpt- ed quotes from Bob Woodward’s lecture in Youngstown’s Stambaugh Auditorium was well written. He came across as a person without a partisan agenda and a professional journalist.

His description of Richard Nixon applies in many ways to those who followed him. Having power is itself a powerful aphrodisiac.

It is doubtful that Bob Woodward took much interest in investigating any of President Clinton’s involvement in the Waco, Texas, massacre orchestrated by his attorney general or the Fast and Furious gun running tragedy directed by our current president’s attorney general.

Once the nation’s journalists realized they can greatly assist in bringing down a chief executive of our country and persuade the public to abandon a winnable war in Vietnam they had all the power they so longed for.

Why do we need to know that this writer is an attorney. His law credentials add not a whit to his opinions. If he were writing on a legal matter then his professional degree mught carry some weight. Otherwise, just express your opinions; we readers will decide if they have merit. Fidelio
