Women charged at Braceville spa arraigned

NEWTON FALLS

The two women arrested Thursday during a raid at the Rose Spa, 4300 state Route 5 in Braceville Township, appeared in Newton Falls Municipal Court for arraignment Monday.

Sun Chae, 69, of Sandpiper trail Southeast, Warren, the spa’s manager, was arraigned on seven felony counts of promoting prostitution, and she was released after posting $1,500 bond. She returns to court at 10 a.m. April 23 for a preliminary hearing.

Kyong Nyguyen, 56, also of the Sandpiper Trail address, was charged with two counts of misdemeanor prostitution. She was released after posting $1,000 bond and also returns to court at 10 a.m. April 23.

Braceville Township Police Chief Bill Garro said his department served a search warrant at the spa Thursday morning after conducting an investigation that began shortly after the spa opened two months ago. The investigation was based on statements from customers who said they paid for sex at the spa in March.

The owner of the spa, Ted Kolacz of Charleston Road, Newton Falls, is scheduled to appear at a hearing at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court on a nuisance complaint filed by the county prosecutor’s office to have the business shut down. Garro boarded up the building temporarily on Thursday pending the Friday hearing.

The building also was raided July 2, 2012, when it was known as the Four Seasons, and two women inside were charged — one for promoting prostitution and one for engaging in prostitution.

An inventory of items seized from the spa that was turned in to the clerk of courts office at the Trumbull County Common Pleas Court showed that investigators found 206 condoms and $7,899 in cash in the building.
