Truck strikes, injures 17-year-old jogger in Champion

CHAMPION

A 17-year-old Champion girl was injured after being struck by a truck while jogging along Airport Road on Friday night.

The Warren Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the one vehicle injury crash.

John A. Pickett, 45, of Champion was driving a 2001 GMC, Sierra 1500 pickup truck.

Pedestrian: Ana-Carime Ruiz, 17 years old, of Champion, Ohio.

According to the patrol, the GMC Sierra was traveling westbound on Airport Road. Ana-Carime Ruiz was jogging westbound on Airport Road with her father following behind on a bicycle. The GMC Sierra struck Ms. Ruiz as she slowed down to walk. She was transported to Trumbull Memorial Hospital and is in stable condition.
