Today’s entertainment picks are:

v Rookery Radio Benefit Bash, 7 p.m.: Youngstown State University’s student-run radio station will sponsor a fundraiser at Lemon Grove, 110 W. Federal St., Youngstown. Four bands will play.

v Joe Augustine Trio and Janet Opritza-Davis, 8 p.m.: Spend the evening with the performers at Ford Family Recital Hall, 260 W. Federal St., Youngstown. For tickets, call 330-744-0264.

v Michael Winslow, 10 p.m.: Have some laughs with the comedian at the Funny Farm at Mojo’s Pub and Grille, 6292 Mahoning Ave., Austintown.

“SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE” (11:30 P.M., NBC): Funny lady Melissa McCarthy, who made such a great impression last season, returns to host. The musical guest is the indie-rock band Phoenix.

“SMASH” (8 p.m., NBC): It’s a new night and time for the on-its-way-out musical drama.

“Community Connection” (7 a.m. Sunday on 21 WFMJ-TV): Nona Sorokach of Nona’s Family Closet and Consignment Shop will join host Madonna Chism Pinkard to discuss her relocation to Pine Tree Plaza in Niles.

Lynn Zocolo and Patty Zitello will discuss the seventh annual Plant the Seed to Read Book Fair planned from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 27 at Fellows Riverside Gardens.

Dana schedules guitar concerts

Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University will present guitar-related concerts, recitals and master classes starting with a faculty recital at 3 p.m. Sunday in Bliss Recital Hall. Featured will be Dr. Francois Fowler, guitar, and Dr. Caroline Oltmanns, piano.

A guest artist recital and master class with Russian guitarist Vladimir Gorbach, winner of the 2011 Guitar Foundation of America International Guitar Competition, will be Tuesday. The master class is at 9 a.m. in Bliss Hall, Room 2222, and the recital is at 8 p.m. in Bliss Recital Hall.

A master class conducted by guitarist Joe Negri will be at noon Friday in Room 2222, Bliss Hall. It will include performances by Dana guitar students and duos.

Dana Guitar Ensembles will perform at 8 p.m. April 18 in Bliss Recital Hall. The ensemble also will play at noon April 24 at Butler Institute of American Art.
