Mathews 5, Boardman 0

BOARDMAN

Cheyenne Eggens threw a two-hitter with 13 strikeouts. Both hits for Boardman were by Melissa Maiorano who had a double. Hollie Shreves, Karli Romesberg and Maddie Williams had multiple hit games for the Mustangs.

Champion 2, Niles 1, 9 innings

NILES

Brooke Culler scored in the top of the ninth on a sacrifice fly from freshman Amber Ricci to lift Champion. Haylee Gardiner started and struck out 13 while walking two in seven innings for the Golden Flashes (1-1). Kayla Hunt pitched the final two innings, striking out two without a walk. The two pitchers each had two hits at the plate. For Niles (0-1), Hope Callen went the distance, striking out four and walking two.

Girard 6, Howland 5

GIRARD

Callie Jay hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning and McKenzie Teter and Neco Maderitz each had two hits for the Indians (2-1). For Howland, Victoria Rappach had three hits including a double.

Lakeview 4, Fitch 1

CORTLAND

Alyssa Nicholas had a double and two singles for Lakeview (1-0). For Fitch (0-1), Alana Callahan went 3-3, Alex Franken had two doubles and Billie Joe Cox had a double.

Ursuline 10, Maplewood 0

McKenzie Stimpert doubled and Dana Creatore tripled for the Irish (2). Also in the five-inning game, Makayla Shore and Megan Ross singled twice with two RBIs each. For Maplewood, Brooke Dawson and Miranda Wood each had two singles.

LaBrae 6, Beaver Local 4

LEAVITTSBURG

LaBrae won its opener behind two hits and two runs batted in from Jessica Buck and a triple and a single from Somer McCoy. McCoy also pitched the final inning in relief of Skyler Gilanyi.

Western Reserve 16, McDonald 2

MCDONALD

Winning pitcher April Lude (1-0) scattered five hits and hit two homers to drive in three runs. She also scored three times. Jenny Stubbs’ three hits included a double and she scored four runs. Also for Western Reserve (2-0, 2-0 Inter Tri-County League Tier Two), Marley Oles hit a two-run homer and Maddie Kreitzburg’s two hits included a double and drove in two runs. For McDonald (0-3, 0-2), Jenna Golden had two hits.

Jackson-Milton 5, Mineral Ridge 3

MINERAL RIDGE

Winning pitcher Paije Kiraly (3-1) had two hits for the Bluejays (3-1, 2-0 ITCL2). Maddie Tomaino also had two hits, For the Rams (0-2, 0-2), Darby Kolesar tripled and Ally Watkins doubled.

East Palestine 15, Youngstown Christian 0

EAST PALESTINE

Karly Pence struck out 15 and fired a no-hitter with no walks — two reached base on third strike passed balls — in the Bulldogs’ opener. Pence also hit a three-run home run. Logan Gatchel added a home run, two triples and four RBIsfor EP and Sid Smith had three hits.

Springfield 8, United 4

HANOVERTON

Springfield jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings and held on for the victory. Taylor Johnston pitched the victory for the Tigers and Shelby Sandrock had a double and a single.

Columbiana 15, Wellsville 0

WELLSVILLE

Marissa St. George threw a one-hitter and struck out five for the Clippers (2-1). Khylea Fullum led the offense with a home run, single and three runs batted in. Dakota DeAmicis added a triple and a single and Sammy Veitz had three hits.

Sebring 25, Southern 0

SEBRING

Kelsi Settle had three doubles, while Mariah Bevins had five hits, Elaina Jurica four hits, Courtney Maretich had four hits, Kelsi Settle had four hits and Murphy Flowers had four hits.

West Branch 4, Minerva 2

BELOIT

Sarah Weber had two hits, including a triple, and Bailey McElwain singled and doubled to lead West Branch (2-1, 1-0 Northeastern Buckeye Conference). Cara Kunz singled, homered and drove in two for Minerva (0-1).

Brookfield 4, Grand Valley 1

BROOKFIELD

Lyndsey Berecek tossed a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts. Haley Hogue had two hits and two RBIs while Ashkey Vivo had two hits. Losing pitcher Katie Paskey struck out five batters.
