BOARDMAN

Division: I.

Head coach: Mike Trell, fifth season, 79-35.

2012: 15-10, 6-6 Federal League.

Projected starters: Sabrina Marshall, catcher, senior; Meagan Jones, first base, senior; Katie Seeco, second base, junior; Melissa Maiorano, shortstop, junior; Courtney Cina, third basem senior; Nicole Sanfilippo, third base, junior; jaclyn jones, left field, senior; Caitlin Cina, center field, senior; Katelynn Morrell, right field, junior; Casey Johnson, right field, senior; Marina D’Amato, pitcher, senior; Kristen Huck, pitcher, sophomore; Sydney Aey, pitcher, freshman.

Others: Lindsay Soltis, outfield, junior; Anna Patoray, infield, junior; Miyah Mitchum, catcher, freshman.

Outlook: Trell said the team is loaded with speedy upperclassmen. He expects the offense to do better. Trell says two-time defending champions North Canton Hoover are the team to beat and that Uniontown Lake is almost as powerful.

CARDINAL MOONEY

Division: III.

Head coach: Mark Rinehart, 22 seasons, 332-168.

2012: 11-14.

Projected starters: Angela Penza, pitcher, senior; Marche Venable, center field, senior; Shannon Saadey, second base/shortstop, senior; Sydney Brown, outfield, junior; Nicolette Filo, outfield, junior; Tiffany Komara, pitcher/outfield, junior; Kayla Lanzo, catcher, junior; Melinda Toth, first base, junior; Brittany Hendricks, outfield, sophomore; Julie Cook, first base/third base, freshman; Jami DiFabio, shortstop, freshman; Sydney Koches, third base, freshman.

Others: Adriana Braxton, outfield, junior; Chaylianna Slaughter, outfield, junior; Brittany Mingo, infield, freshman; Damani Santiago, pitcher/outfield, freshman; Jessyka Shackelford, infield, freshman.

Outlook: After 20 consecutive winning seasons, the Cardinals started 0-8 in 2012 before finishing 11-14. Six starters graduated and Rinehart sees freshmen playing key roles. Penza is a four-year pitcher who was 10-10 last season and struck out 130 batters. Enable (.368 batting average) and Saadey (.345) are the leading returning hitters. Mooney and Ursuline are competing in the Diocese of Youngstown League that includes Canton Central Catholic, Warren JFK and St. Thomas Aquinas. Rinehart said Ursuline and Canton Central Catholic are the teams to beat.

URSULINE

Division: III.

Head coach: Michael Kernan, 12th season (212-97).

2012: 16-13.

Roster: Madelyn Christoff, outfield, senior; Lea Carroll, outfield, senior; Kelsey Cannell, outfield, senior; Macey Gunther infield/outfield, junior; Dana Creatore, catcher/infield, junior; McKenzie Stimpert, infield/pitcher/catcher, junior; Annie Carroll, infield, junior; Jerica Day, outfield, junior; Stephanie Ohalek, infield/outfield, sophomore; Christina Xenakis, outfield/catcher, sophomore; Makayla Shore, pitcher/infield, sophomore.

Outlook: Kernan said his squad is young and inexperienced, but the team could have a decent season if it matures.
