Finnish hotel seeks professional guest for 35 days

Fed up with the neighbors? Pipes burst in the kitchen? Or you just want to get away from it all for a while?

Hotel Finn in the heart of Helsinki might just be the ticket — they’re seeking a “professional sleeper” for 35 days to test their rooms and write all about it.

Hotel manager Tio Tikka said he thought up the stunt to help promote the hotel after lengthy renovations.

Tikka said that they were looking for a “dynamic person to write a quality blog” about their daily experiences at the basic hotel, which has no bar or restaurant.

Requirements: Fluent Finnish and English, Russian a plus. The job opens May 17 with applications closing at the end of April.

Ill. man arrested in NJ with stolen Wis. cheese

An Illinois man accused of stealing 21 tons of Wisconsin cheese has been arrested in New Jersey.

New Jersey authorities say the 34-year-old man from Plainfield, Ill., was arrested last week.

New Jersey State Police Lt. Stephen Jones said the man was driving a refrigerated truck carrying 42,000 pounds of Muenster cheese. Jones says the cheese company, K&K Cheese in Cashton, Wis., valued the cargo at $200,000.

New Jersey Detective Oliver Sissman told WISC-TV in Wisconsin that the suspect used false paperwork to obtain the cheese.

Company spokesman Kevin Everhart said K&K can’t guarantee the cheese hasn’t been tampered with, so it didn’t ask for it back.

Jones said if the cheese passes inspections by health authorities, it will be donated to charity.
