Flying High Inc. has relocated to the Chase Building, 6 Federal Plaza Central, Suite 705, in downtown Youngstown. The nonprofit was previously located at 238 S. Meridian Road. Flying High provides economic and educational opportunities for those in need. It also coordinates the Access To Recovery Program in Mahoning County. For information call Jeffrey M. Free Internet training


Connect Ohio and the East Liverpool Area YMCA are offering the Every Citizen Online (ECO) free basic computer and Internet training, an adult digital literacy program. Participants are eligible for discounted Internet service and computer purchases.

As an ECO partner organization, the East Liverpool Area YMCA received 12 new computers for the ECO classes and in the near future expects to equip a computer lab for members’ use.

Fall classes are forming at the Calcutta YMCA Program Center, 15655 state Route 170, East Liverpool, to register call 330-385-6400, ext. 201; and the East Liverpool YMCA, 500 East Fourth St., East Liverpool, to register call 330-385-0663.

Crohn’s education


The Northeast Ohio Chapter of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America is offering an education program Oct. 9 for patients, families and caregivers living with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. The speakers are Dr. Aaron Brzezinski, gastroenterologist at the Cleveland Clinic, and Lisa Cimperman, clinical dietitian, University Hospitals Case Medical Center.

The program, which is at 7 p.m. at the Rosenberg Conference Suite, Ahuja Medical Center, University Hospitals, 3999 Richmond Road, is free and open to the public. However, registration, which begins at 6:30 p.m., is required. Call 216-524-7700. Light refreshments will be provided.

Breast cancer awareness calendar


UPMC Horizon has activities planned for October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month. They include:

Oct. 1-31: Every woman who has a mammogram at the Womancare Center of UPMC Horizon in Hermitage will receive a gourmet cupcake as part of “Cupcakes for a Cause.” Womancare Center staff members will match each cupcake with a monetary donation to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Oct. 13: The Womancare Center, in partnership with Family Planning Services of Mercer County, is offering free mammograms to women between 40 and 64 who are uninsured or underinsured and have undergone a free pelvic and breast examination and PAP test at a Mercer County Family Planning location. For an appointment, call Family Planning Services of Mercer County at 724-981-6250 in Sharon, Pa., or 724-588-2272 in Greenville, Pa.

Oct. 17: Kim Leonard, director of Northern Region Women’s Health for UPMC Passavant, Northwest, and Horizon, will speak about breast cancer awareness at Riverview Manor, Sharon, at 1 p.m.

Oct. 30: Dr. Maryann Payne, medical director of the Magee Comprehensive Breast Center at UPMC Horizon, will present “The Real Facts About Breast Care” at 11:30 a.m. at Whispering Oaks, Hermitage. The presentation is open to the public.

UPMC Horizon will be represented at the Shenango Valley YMCA Health Fair on Oct. 8, where free bone density heel screenings and breast cancer awareness information will be available; at the Views and Voices Women’s Expo on Oct. 6 at the Shenango Valley Mall; and at the fifth annual Sip for a Cure at Something’s Brewin’, also at the mall, on Oct. 19.
