Beginning in October, the Jewish Community Center will offer swimming classes taught by an American Red Cross water-safety instructor.
Interested parties do not need to be members at the center, 505 Gypsy Lane, to sign up for classes. Lessons for three skill levels will be offered for four weeks each.
“You & Me Baby” is designed for children age 6 months to 3 years with parents assisting their children in the water. Babies and toddlers will learn how to float on their backs and bellies and improve their motor skills.
Swim pants or swim diapers are required for classes, which will be Saturdays from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Cost is $20 for JCC members and $30 for nonmembers.
Dolphins, for children age 3 to 5, will teach the basic skills of swimming and safety tips about pools and water games. Lessons will be Saturdays from 10 to 10:30 a.m. and will cost $20 for members and $30 for nonmembers.
Sharks, for children age 6 to 12, will teach basic swimming skills and pool safety and urge students to gain confidence and self-reliance in the pool. These classes will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 7 p.m. They will cost $45 for members and $50 for nonmembers.
