So where's your bomb shelter?

Published: Thu, September 13, 2012 @ 1:20 p.m.

Fifty years ago, the Cold War settled over the Valley as the Cuban Missile Crisis engaged.

And Youngstown listed in some discussions as a potential attack target among key U.S. cities.

The NewsOutlet.org from Youngstown State University is revisiting that era, and is interested in finding Valley bomb shelters that were built in various homes.

If you have a bomb shelter in your home built during the Cold War era and would like to make it part of a story, please email Dr. Tim Francisco at tfrancisco@ysu.edu.

This reminded me of the story about the fuel oil delivery man pumping 500 gallons of oil into a bomb shelter's air pipe. Mistook it for the oil filler pipe!
