Discounted blood analysis at SCOPE

WARREN

The Rotary Club of Warren, in conjunction with Trumbull Memorial Hospital, is offering low-cost blood analysis during its Fall Blood Analysis program Saturday from 7 to 10 a.m. at SCOPE Inc., 220 West Market St.

For $36, participants will receive chemistry, CBC Profiles and urine testing. The chemistry profile tests glucose levels, triglyceride and cholesterol levels. The CBC Profile includes white blood- cell count, hemoglobin, hematocrit and platelet. Urine testing provides important information about possible diabetes, kidney disease or blood.

“At this time when many people have lost their jobs and benefits, the program is even more important to the community. For many people it is the only time they can afford to have these tests performed,” said Barry Dunaway, chairman.

Arthritis seminar

NEW CASTLE, PA.

Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Steven Hand is offering a seminar on treatment options for arthritis pain during which he will discuss the new technologies in hip and knee replacement. The seminar is today at 6 p.m. at the Jameson Rehabilitation Center, 3410 Wilmington Road, New Castle. It is free to the public. Harvest party

WARREN

The Warren Family Mission is having a Harvest Party at its 361 Elm Road location on Oct. 31 from 5 to 7 p.m. The purpose is to provide a safe alternative for children up to age 13 in the community.

Harvest Party activities include games, face painting and a light meal. Nonscary costumes are encouraged. The mission is collecting candy and small prizes for the event at its Youngstown Road location, 2671 Youngstown Road S.E., Warren. For information, call Michelle at 330-394-5437.

Yoga & wellness day

HOWLAND

A Moment for Me Yoga and Wellness Center, 8309 High St., next to the Howland Administration Building/ Post Office, is having its inaugural Wellness Day on Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m.

The wellness activities and labyrinth walks are free. Preregistration is encouraged for chair massage, mini iridology sessions, reflexology, each of which cost $1 per minute with a minimum of 15 minutes. Smoking cessation

NEW CASTLE, PA.

Jameson Hospital, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Northwest Pennsylvania Tobacco Control Program, is offering a free, six-session Quit Smoking Program.

The program series consists of six, one-hour sessions on Nov. 6, Nov. 13, Nov. 20, Nov. 27, Nov. 29 and Dec. 4 from noon to 1 p.m. at the Jameson Hospital South Campus, 1000 South Mercer St., New Castle, in the Administrative Conference Room on the first floor. Register by calling 724-656-4270.

Veterans health fair

NEW CASTLE, PA.

A free military veterans benefit seminar, flu shot clinic and health fair, hosted by the Lawrence County Veterans Affairs Office, is Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lawrence County Courthouse. Veterans are asked to bring a copy of the DD214 discharge papers. Health screenings include blood pressure, diabetes blood test, body mass index (BMI), and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
