WEDNESDAY

Boar’s Head Group of St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., will serve a chicken dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the church. No reservations are necessary. For takeouts or to order ahead, call the church at 330-743-3175.

THURSDAY

Smith Corners United Methodist Church, 3000 S. Canfield-Niles Road, Austintown, is serving a free Swedish meatballs and noodles dinner from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

Woodworth Church of the Brethren, 30 E. Western Reserve Road, Poland, will host a takeout-only beef tips and noodles dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m., or until sold out. Drive up to the back door to place your order, and it will be brought to your car. For information call the church at 330-758-3143 or 330-501-2104.

FRIDAY

American Legion Post 737, 16465 Milton Ave., Lake Milton, will serve all-you-can-eat fried fish, chicken or shrimp dinners from 3 to 7 p.m. Each meal is $8.50 for adults, $5 for children under 12 and free for those 3 and under. Holy Trinity Church, 250 Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. Orders will be taken from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday at 330-755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. There is a limit of three dozen cabbage pirogi while supplies last. Orders may be picked up from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided.

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 330-792-1005.

Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., will sell potato and potato with kraut pirogi for $6 a dozen. Orders should be placed from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday or 9:30 to 11 Friday at 330-746-9528, and are to be picked up between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday. Hot lunches will be available beginning at 11 a.m. Friday.

St. Anthony Church, 1125 Turin Ave., will sell Brier Hill pizza and other Italian treats. Orders may be placed by calling 330-746-9577 from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. and must be picked up by 1 p.m.

St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown, will sell potato and cheese pirogi. To order call 330-799-0084 from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. Cost is $6 for a baker’s dozen (no containers necessary). Walk-ins are welcome. Patrons are asked to use the side entrance.

St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will sell potato, prune and kraut pirogi. Cost is $5 a dozen. Phone orders may be made beginning at 8 a.m. at 330-755-1316, and orders can be picked up beginning at noon. A limited supply of frozen pirogi will be available. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers. No walk-in orders will be available.

St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main St., New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi for $5.50 a dozen. Orders can be called to 330-542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Walk-ins are welcome.

St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., sells potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi on Fridays. The cost is $5.50 a dozen. Pirogi lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Advance orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and 8 to 11 Friday, based upon availability. Pickup will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday; walk-in orders will be available.

SATURDAY

American Legion Post 751, 3145 Warren-Burton Road, Southington, will serve a Swiss steak dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Cost is $7.50 for adults and $4 for children under 12. Takeouts are available.

St. Luke Episcopal Church, 348 Robbins Ave., Niles, will serve a Swiss steak dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Cost is $9 for adults, $4 for ages 6 through 10 and 5 and younger eat free. For tickets call the church at 330-652-2952.

SUNDAY

Fowler Fire Department, 3386 Youngstown-Kingsville Road, Cortland, will host its monthly pancake, sausage and egg breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Adult tickets cost $6; seniors, $5; children, $4; and preschoolers eat free.

The Historic Lutheran Church of St. John, 1429 Mahoning Ave., will have a roast pork dinner at noon sponsored by the Ladies Altar Guild. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Takeout is available. For reservations call 330-799-1751.

Holy Family Third Source Committee will have a cavatelli dinner from noon to 4 p.m. at the parish center, 2729 Center Road, Poland. The cost is $7.

North Beaver Township Volunteer Fire Department, 959 Mount Jackson Road, New Castle, Pa., will host a braised steak dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Adults tickets cost $11; meals for children 5 to 11 cost $6, and for 4 and younger eat free. Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, 3919 Southern Blvd., will sponsor a roast beef dinner from 12:15 to 3 p.m. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger. Carryout is available.

Poland Masonic Temple, 7685 Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road, will serve a turkey dinner from noon until sold out. Cost for adults is $9, children 6 to 12 pay $5, and those 5 years and under eat free. Carryouts are available.

Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road, will host a pork-kraut dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The cost is $8.75 and $5 for kids and includes dessert and beverage. Takeouts will be available.

VFW Post 2799, 3161 E. South Range Road, New Springfield, will serve a homestyle breakfast sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary from 8 a.m. to noon. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12.

Western Mahoning County Kiwanis Club will have a Swiss steak dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St., Canfield. The cost is $10.50 per adult; tickets for children 4 to 9 are $7.50, and those 3 and under will eat free. Tickets can be purchased from a club member or at the door.

TAKING ORDERS

Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave., North Lima, is now taking orders for homemade apple dumplings. To place your order, call 549-5106 or the church at 549-2588 and leave your name, quantity wanted, if you want them baked or unbaked and your phone number. Your order will be confirmed to you. The cost is $2.95 per dumpling. These will be made on Oct. 25 and 26 and may be picked up from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 25 and 26 and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 27.

Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at St. John the Baptist Church, 159 Reed Ave., Campbell, will be selling homemade haluski on Oct. 26. Call in orders Oct. 22 through 24 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Pickup from 10 a.m. to noon in the church hall. Donation is $5 a quart. For information call 330-755-0036 or 330-755-4141.

Church Hill United Methodist Church, 189 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, Liberty, is taking orders for homemade chicken noodle soup until Nov. 2 at 330-539-6260. The cost for a quart of the soup with a mini loaf of homemade bread is $6.50. Pickup will be between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Nov. 3. Go to the door at the parking lot facing Belmont Avenue.

First Presbyterian Church of Girard, 890 Church Hill Road, is taking orders until Thursday for homemade pepperoni rolls for $7 each, vegetable soup and chicken noodle soup for $5 per quart and $3 per pint, and fresh-baked bread for $1.50 a loaf. Call 330-647-7515; pickup is between 3 and 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, 526 W. Rayen Ave., is taking orders for stuffed cabbage sale. Cost is $15 per dozen and $7.50 per half-dozen. Salem Saxon Club, 1980 Newgarden Road, is taking orders for German/Saxon rope sausage in 3- or 5-pound portions of plain, garlic or hot; the cost is $3 per pound. Deadline to order is Oct. 30.; call 330-332-9810, or 330-337-8940. Pickup will be from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 3. At that time, lunch will be available and includes sausage sandwiches, pastries, doughnuts and beverages.

Youngstown American Hungarian Club is taking orders for stuffed cabbage. Cost is $13 for a dozen. Take your own container to save $1.25 each. To order call 330-792-5124. Deadline is Oct. 24. Pickup will be Oct. 26 and 27 between 1 and 3 p.m. at the club house, 2219 Donald Ave.

UPCOMING

Berlin Ellsworth Ruritans will serve a family-style all-you-can-eat Swiss steak supper from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 3 at Western Reserve High School, 13850 W. Akron-Canfield Road, Berlin Center. The cost is $9.50 in advance and $10 at the door. Children 4 to 10 can eat for $5; those 3 and under eat free. There will be a homemade baking contest prior to the dinner. Tickets may be purchased from any Ruritan member or at Denny’s Auto Supply, 6999 S. Pricetown Road, Berlin Center, or for tickets or to enter the baking contest, call Denny Furman at 330-547-4027.

Bethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Drive, Boardman, is planning its semiannual international buffet Oct. 27. There will be seatings at 4 and 6 p.m. The cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children 6 to 12. Those 5 and under eat free. Martin Luther Lutheran Church, 420 Clearmount Drive, will have a fish fry from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 2 in the fellowship hall. Adult tickets are $8 in advance or $8.75 at the door. Cost for children 6 to 12 is $3.95; those 5 and under eat free. Takeouts will be available. Tickets are available at the church after worship at 10:30 a.m. Sundays or 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays through Oct. 31. Ohltown United Methodist Church, 2001 Ohltown Road, Austintown, will host its annual turkey dinner and bake sale Nov. 10 with seatings at 4, 5:15, and 6 p.m. The cost is $9 for adults, $4 for children 6 to 12, and free for those 5 and under. Reservations will be accepted from Oct. 29 to Nov. 5 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 330-469-6571. Carryouts will be available.
