Concert planned at Dave Grohl Alley
There will be a free concert at 5 p.m. Friday at Dave Grohl Alley, named for the Warren-born rock star. Local artists, in conjunction with the Trumbull Art Gallery, will produce alley-themed art, which will be auctioned off between sets. All proceeds will be used to mount The World’s Largest Drumsticks, a giant-sized sculpture, in the alley. Bands involved are Larry Long Jr. & the Backsliders, Jones & Company, and Shotgun Willy.
Beer and wine coolers will be available for purchase, and Sunrise will provide free pizza while it lasts. Donations will be accepted.
Sweetest Day dance at Packard
The Packard Band will present a free Sweetest Day Dance from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at W.D. Packard Music Hall. The 20-piece Big Band Sound of Packard, under the direction of Daniel Carioti, will perform, with Helen Welch as featured vocalist.
WYSU fund drive
Listener-supported 88.5 WYSU FM, Youngstown State University’s public radio service, will have its annual Fall Fund Drive Tuesday through Friday. The goal is $115,000.
