The levy would cost the owner of a $100,000 home about $60 a year. The median cost of a home in the township is $80,000, and the levy would cost that homeowner $49 a year in new taxes.
The levy will provide equipment at a rate of 30 percent of the levy each for the police, fire and road departments, or roughly $67,000 each a year; and 10 percent for the cemetery, or $22,000 a year.
The township’s appropriation budget for 2012 is $4.211 million.
Wages cost $919,678 for salaried and hourly employees, and benefits cost for all employees is $562,670, for a total of $1.482 million.
The percentage of salaries to the annual budget is 21.1 percent, and the combined total of benefits and salaries is 34.1 percent.
There are 77 employees in the township, and the average salary is $11,943. Plus benefits of $7,307 a year per employee, the total average is $19,251.
