Dylan Seybert had two goals and an assist while Michael Piersante had a goal for Canfield. The Cardinals outshot Marlington, 11-7 and Andrik Massaro made six saves. JVs: 2-2.


Boardman 6, Hubbard 1


Alison Green scored three goals, Nikki Hillard added two for Boardman (8-7-1). Sarah Strawinski also scored. Hillard had three assists, Green had one and Jenna Kuczek and Sarah Downie did too. JVs: Boardman 7-2.


Howland 25-25-25, Harding 11-15-15


Erika Lampardo and Erika Airhart led Howland (16-6) with 17 and 16 kills, respectively. Megan Papalas had 46 assists and nine points, while Samantha Bailes had 11 digs. Olivia Goodman and Kelly Dugan had eight and four kills, respectively.


Boardman’s Mark Hadley was named the top runner in the Federal League after placing first at the conference championships Saturday at Perry High School. The junior ran a 15:43. Fellow Spartan junior Alan Burns placed second, running a 16:22, and freshman Nathan Hadley recorded a fourthplace 16:26. Sam Sheronovich, Justin Maroni and Juan Santiago finished in the top-25 as Boardman finished first in the team standings with 35 points. GlenOak was second with 50.

The Boardman girls placed fourth in the Federal League with 87 points. Massillon Jackson is the conference champion with 45 points. Jordan Grantonic and Emma Schwendeman placed in the top-10 with times of 19:28 and 19:45, respectively.

Boardman boys coach John Phillips was named the 2012 Federal League Coach of the Year.
