Community Safety Summit in Youngstown seeks individuals, groups to share resources

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown State University will host a free Community Safety Summit 8 a.m. to 12:30 pm. Nov. 10, in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center.

The purpose of this event is to bring the community together to share current crime prevention efforts, examine and discuss best practices and address how YSU can assist with these efforts.

FBI Special Agent Mike Cizmar will provide the keynote address. Panel discussions will focus on four topics:

The Role of Faith-Based Organizations and Community Safety

Safety Initiatives from Law Enforcement Personnel

Best Practices/Initiatives on Safety

Taking Responsibility for Community Safety (A Youth Perspective)

Doors open at 7 a.m. for setup. Continental breakfast is being served at 8 a.m. Parking is available on campus for a fee.

The community is invited to share resources and material by sponsoring a table. Individuals needing continuing-education units will be awarded three Social Work CEUs for participating in the summit.
