Dion Waiters scored 18 points while Anderson Varejao added eight points and nine rebounds to help the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Chicago Bulls 86-83 in an exhibition game at the Assembly Hall on Friday night.
The Cavaliers took the lead 16-15 at the end of the first quarter and never gave it up.
Trailing 50-29 at the half, the Bulls opened the third quarter with a 15-0 run. The Bulls outscored the Cavaliers 32-13 in the quarter, closing the gap to 63-61.
The Bulls played without star point guard Derrick Rose, recovering from surgery on his torn ACL during the 2012 playoffs.
Tyler Zeller scored 10 points for the Cavaliers, while Omri Casspi, C.J. Miles and Luke Harangody got nine each. Kirk Hinrich scored 14 points, had eight assists and grabbed four rebounds for the Bulls.

Corey Brewer scored 24 points and Denver beat San Antonio in the preseason opener for both teams. Danilo Gallinari added 19 points, Andre Iguodala had 11 and JaVale McGee scored 10.

Kevin Martin had 17 points to help the Rockets beat the Hornets.
Raptors 82, Pistons 75
DeMar DeRozan scored 14 points and Ed Davis had 12 points to lead Toronto over Detroit.
Pacers 96, Timberwolves 91
Paul George scored 19 points to help the Pacers over Minnesota. Derrick Williams led the Timberwolves (1-1) with 25 points and six rebounds.
