CBS pulls the plug on ‘Made in Jersey’
The fall TV season has claimed its first victim: the CBS series “Made in Jersey.”
CBS announced Wednesday the legal drama had been pulled from the Friday lineup after just two airings. It premiered on Sept. 28 to puny ratings. It starred British actress Janet Montgomery as a colorful New Jersey lawyer who lands a job at a posh Manhattan firm.
The network is replacing it with the fourth season of the reality series “Undercover Boss,” starting Nov. 2.
Until then, repeats of “NCIS” or “Hawaii Five-O” will fill the Friday hour.
Jimmy Page says no to Led Zep reunion
Led Zeppelin will not be reuniting anytime soon.
That message came through loud and clear Tuesday with sarcasm, stoic silence and even the occasional barb at reporters who dared to ask. Just the mention of the topic set off lead singer Robert Plant at a news conference for the band’s upcoming concert film, “Celebration Day.”
“Celebration Day” covers their 2007 reunion concert at London’s 02 Arena. Original members Plant, Page and John Paul Jones, as well as Jason Bonham, the son of the late John Bonham, played the one-time tribute concert to honor Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun.
Debbie Reynolds is hospitalized
A publicist says Debbie Reynolds has been hospitalized and is canceling upcoming appearances after suffering an adverse reaction to medication.
Reynolds’ publicist Kevin Sasaki says the singer-actress was hospitalized in Los Angeles after having the bad reaction. She is canceling shows and appearances through the end of the year.
Reynolds is famous for her role in “Singin’ in the Rain” and earned an Oscar nomination for her gutsy character in “The Unsinkable Molly Brown.”
The 80-year-old performs numerous shows and makes appearances each year.
Lindsay Lohan, mom in reported dispute
Police were called to Lindsay Lohan’s childhood home in suburban New York on Wednesday morning after a report of a fight between the troubled actress and her mother.
It was the third run-in involving the actress and New York police officers in the past several weeks.
Nassau County Police Insp. Kenneth Lack said officers were called around 8 a.m. Wednesday to the Merrick, Long Island, home where the 26-year-old starlet grew up. Her mother Dina lives in the home with some of her other children.
An investigation revealed “no criminality,” according to Lack. Police did not release details on the subject of the argument.
Celebrity website TMZ says mother and daughter left a New York City nightclub at 4 a.m. and headed to Merrick, about, 40 minutes outside Manhattan. The website reported an argument that started in the car became physical when they got home, and police were called.
Bieber says items stolen during show
Justin Bieber says some of his belongings were stolen during a show in Washington state.
The pop star tweeted to his nearly 29 million followers that he and his tour manager were victimized during the show Tuesday night at the Tacoma Dome. He didn’t lay out exactly what was stolen, but referenced a computer and a camera. He said what bothers him the most is that he had a lot of “personal footage” on them.
Willie Geist joins the ‘Today’ show
Willie Geist will no longer have to be at work way too early.
NBC News on Wednesday appointed Geist to be a host of the 9 a.m. hour of the “Today” show, where he joins Al Roker and Natalie Morales.
Geist has been a regular on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” and host of that network’s 5:30 a.m. Eastern newscast, “Way Too Early.” He’ll turn over the early newscast to another host, but still appear on the 6 a.m. hour of “Morning Joe.”
The new job begins Nov. 12. Geist says he’s looking forward to joining the freewheeling discussion of the day that tops the third hour of “Today.”
