Hubbard man indicted

HUBBARD

A Trumbull County grand jury Wednesday indicted a Hubbard Township man on a charge he raped a 13-year-old girl.

Rodney E. First, 46, of Franklin Avenue, appeared in common pleas court on felony rape charges.

Township Police Chief Todd D. Coonce said First was arrested Monday after the incident was reported the previous day. First appeared Tuesday in Girard Municipal Court before his case was transferred to the county.

First will be arraigned Friday in common pleas court. His bond has been set at $100,000.

Apparent fall

WARREN

A 22-year-old Porter Street woman remained in the emergency room at ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital late Wednesday receiving treatment for injuries suffered in an apparent fall early Wednesday.

Police suspect she fell out the attic window of her apartment. She was found at 2:09 a.m.

Police were called by a passer-by who noticed the woman lying on the sidewalk beside her home in the 300 block of Porter Street.

She was bleeding from the back of her head and was unable to talk, police said.

Incident at dealership

BOARDMAN

Police are investigating theft and vandalism that occurred at Donnell Ford, 7955 Market St., over the weekend.

The car dealership told police that several vehicles on the sales lot had broken windows and were missing tires and wheels, according to reports.

A 1998 blue Jeep Cherokee and 2009 red Ford F-150 truck also were stolen, police said.

The vehicles were last seen intact Saturday night, records stated.

Making donation

BOARDMAN

Buffalo Wild Wings at Southern Park Mall in Boardman will donate 15 percent of each food purchase to Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley from 11 a.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday.

Patrons can cheer on their favorite football team, eat wings and help to support their local children’s hospital.

French Market returns

Canfield

The French Market returns to the Canfield Fairgrounds on Saturday.

This indoor/outdoor market features local artists, antique dealers, crafters, businesses, vendors and entertainment. Visitors will be able to shop for jewelry, home and holiday decor, original artwork and antiques, among other items.

Food vendors, including the Mocha House Cafe and The Harvest Bread Company, will be on site, as will a children’s area.

Admission is free and hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
