The expectation of increased costs keeps a number of businesses from investing in new technology, but the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber is hosting an event designed to overcome that fear.
Using technology to improve business and personal efficiency will be a focal point of the chamber’s annual Business Showcase, a free event, from noon to 4:30 p.m. next Thursday at Mr. Anthony’s at 7440 South Ave., Boardman.
“We wanted to provide information about new technologies that will help business owners in both their personal and professional lives,” said Bergen Giordani, director of special events for the chamber.
There are a number of businesses that avoid new technology because they believe it will cost too much, she said. The event will show them that new technology can be affordable and save them money.
“We’re all trying to do the same thing; do more with less and do it better,” Giordani said.
The event is the largest business trade show between Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Nearly 100 vendors will attend to talk about their businesses and to sell products.
There will be a technology showcase and “tech talk” demonstrations designed to help attendees use technology to improve business and personal efficiency.
The chamber also is hosting an after-hours event when the showcase ends. This event will be open only to the business community. The mixer will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Cost is $20 for chamber members and $30 for nonmembers.
The after-hours event is a chance for businesses to see new products in a casual environment, to browse and make contacts without pressure, Giordani said.
“When you go to a showroom, there’s always pressure to buy something,” she said.
Advanced registration is required for the after-hours event. Register by contacting Jennifer Mascardine at 330-744-2131, ext. 12, by email at firstname.lastname@example.org, or go to the chamber’s website at www.regionalchamber.com and click on the events link.
