Video shows teen sucker-punching teacher

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh police are hoping surveillance video will help them arrest a teenager who can be seen sucker punching a popular teacher at the city’s Creative and Performing Arts school.

Police released the video which shows the English teacher, 50-year-old James Addlespurger, walking through a downtown alley near the school about 3:30 p.m. last Thursday. A group of teens is walking past in the other direction when one of them punches Addlespurger who drops to the ground unconscious onto a curb.

Police are saying they don’t believe the teen who attacked Addlespurger goes to the school also known as CAPA, which is for 6th through 12th grade students who want to pursue a diploma with an emphasis in the performing arts.

Addlespurger has declined to comment on the attack.

gdog4766 Don't forget they have to be in a group to do it. They can't do it alone or without a gun. You are right, they are COWARDLY PUNKS!

I would be willing to bet $10,000 (like Mitt Romney, if I had it!) that the offending "child" was raised in a home without a father (or any kind of male supervision) by an unmarried woman on welfare.

I'm pretty sure my money would be safe. Look at the statistics: 70 percent of African-American babies are born to single women, most of them on welfare (Uncle Sam's Plantation).

The resulting demographics are horrific- 5 times the rate of incarceration, poverty and welfare dependency, etc. etc (compared to children in a "normal" family: man and woman married to each other).

It is a national disgrace and it is a disgrace, particularly for African-Americans, that their so-called"Leaders" (if you want to use that word to describe people like Al Sharpton or the Rev, Jesse Jackson. I call them con-artists and Race Hustlers) fail to address this issue.

Bill Cosby, to his credit, spoke out against this insanity, and do you remember what he was called by the race-hustlers- OREO. For Shame.

I agree. Diversity in the market place of ideas does make us a stronger country- but, if you confine your self to the mainstream media: the three networks, plus Cnn and Msnbc and major newspapers as many people do- diversity isn't what you'll be getting- you'll be getting a left wing slant on every single issue and, if that's all you're getting, you won't even realize it.

Here's an experiment to try if you have a DVR. Tape parallel prime-time news programs on MS-NBC and Fox news every night for a week: the Ed Show vs. Bill O'Reilly; Rachel Madow vs Sean Hannity.

Run through them- you can fast forward past all the commercials- the key point is to watch them in parallel- flick back and forth on any given night following the way they treat the day's news.

I've been doing that the past few months and the results are truly enlightening. The number one discovery is that O'Reilly and Hannity routinely feature people who differ with their own (and the net-works center-right viewpoint) They do this almost every night. With Ms-nbc that's almost never the case- practically all the people interviewed on an any single issue represent the networks left of center position- there's almost never any kind of debate which you find on Fox- routinely. The result is that- if you watched just Fox-news you would actually be getting a pretty balanced presentation of the days events, which can't be said of Ms-Nbc.

I think the above disparity would exist (though not to the same extent) if you used CNN against Fox. CNN, to give them credit does try to make a better effort than MSNBC to be "fair and balanced", but still not to the same extent as Fox.

The bottom line is, before the advent of Fox, Talk Radio, and the Internet about fifteen years ago, American News- the three networks &PBS, and the Big Newspapers and Mags- was almost completely dominated by left-of center thinking: that's all you got. It made life easier for people, it is true, because it made the news much easier to digest:: they had it spoon fed them by Authority figures, such as Walter Cronkite and Chet Huntley, etc.,etc.- but , of course, that's not what journalism is supposed to be about as taught in the schools- journalism is supposed to represent divergent viewpoints letting the audience decide (We Report, you Decide.)

Yes, I agree diversity in the news is a fine thing- but if you stay confined to the Main Streams (3 networks, PPS, CNN and MSNBC- plus major newspapers and mags) you won't be getting it: you'll be getting a carefully edited left-wing view of the world- and you won.t even know it. Try the above experiment and you will know what I mean.
