Gov. Christie to speak at Lordstown rally
Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will highlight a “Victory Rally” at Lordstown Village Park on Tuesday, the Mitt Romney for President campaign announced Sunday.
The park is located at the intersection of state Route 45 and Salt Springs Road in the village, home of the sprawling General Motors Lordstown assembly plant.
Admittance to the rally opens at 1:15 p.m., and the rally is expected to begin at 2:15, said Mark Munroe, Mahoning County Republican Party chairman.
No tickets are required, Munroe said. Christie has been campaigning on behalf of Romney and other GOP candidates across the country.
Entrance ramp to I-76 closed for a while
The entrance ramp from the Ohio Turnpike to Interstate 76 westbound is closed through mid-October. Motorists on the turnpike will detour using the Mahoning Avenue exit.
The following traffic patterns are in place: I-76 westbound between state Route 45 to the Ohio Turnpike is reduced to one lane for pavement repairs; and I-80 westbound between the Meander Reservoir and Ohio Turnpike is reduced to two lanes.
This work is part of $2 million project for pavement repairs and drainage improvements on I-76 between the Ohio Turnpike and Route 45. The project is scheduled to be complete by late November.
