Allen scores touchdown in Ursuline’s victory


Ursuline senior wide receiver Sean Allen caught a 38-yard touchdown pass in a 31-7 road victory against Steubenville on Friday night.

Allen was identified incorrectly in a story and box score in Saturday’s edition.

Mooney boys soccer team defeats St. Thomas Aquinas


Byron Abrigg, Jake Payne, Pat Price and Nick Tkacik scored goals and Cardinal Mooney’s defense clamped down in a 4-0 victory over Louisville St. Thomas Aquinas on Sunday at Columbus Crew Stadium.

Payne, Tkacik and Mark Sullivan had assists for Mooney (7-5-1). Goakeeper Jason Barnett had 15 saves for Aquinas (6-6-1).

Badger boys’ golf team finishes with 18-2 mark


The Badger boys golf team recently concluded an 18-2 season, which ranks as the best in terms of victories.

The Braves were Northeastern Athletic Conference co-champs with Pymatuning Valley. Combined with last year’s 15-3 record, Badger has compiled a 33-5 record. The team missed qualifying beyond the Division III Riverview sectional.

Badger loses four seniors: Justin Polk (40.5 stroke avg.), Matt Kraml (41.4), Jake DeScenna (45.0) and Curtis Landis (45.9).

Returning will be junior Travis Allen (43.0) and sophomore Chad Carr.

Badger concluded its season on Oct. 1 at Bronzwood with a tri-match victory over Ashtabula Edgewood and Ashtabula St. John.
