Pittsburgh cops find pot growing after fight call

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh police say a domestic disturbance call has led them to a marijuana-growing operation in a city home.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for 31-year-old Gerald Sloan Jr. who was arrested Sunday night.

Police say that’s when they responded to the assault call at Sloan’s home. Police say Sloan denied hitting the victim but, while police were there, they noticed marijuana growing inside.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports today that officers got search warrants and say they found up to 20 pounds of pot, plus some psychedelic mushrooms and $4,000 in cash, which they believe are drug proceeds. Police say they also saw equipment used to grow, weigh and package the marijuana.
