Today’s entertainment picks:

v Artober Market, noon to 7 p.m.: This artists market will include beer, barbecue and live entertainment. B&O Station, 530 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown.

v Pioneer Days, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Demonstrations of pioneer- era life at Pioneer Village, Beaver Creek State Park, Echo Dell Road, north of East Liverpool; 330-385-3091.

v Jeff Blanchard, 8 and 10 p.m.: Comedian takes the stage for two shows at the Funny Farm, inside Mojo’s Pub, 6292 Mahoning Ave., Austintown; 330-759-4242.

v “On Golden Pond,” 7 p.m.: Stage Left Players presents this drama at the Trinity Playhouse, 234 E. Lincoln Way, Lisbon; 330-831-7249.

v Greenville Symphony Orchestra, 8 p.m.: Season-opening concert with guest artist Sarah Rose Clark at Passavant Center, Thiel College, Greenville, Pa.; 724-475-1177.

“Winged Planet” (8 p.m., Discovery): Prepare for takeoff. This documentary provides viewers with an incredible bird’s-eye view by using special cameras mounted on eagles, pelicans and other feathered creatures.

LOCAL TOPICS ON TV

“Community Connection” (7 a.m. Sunday on 21 WFMJ-TV; and 7 p.m. Tuesday on Time Warner Cable community access channel): The Mahoning Valley Chapter of Sojourn to the Past will have its second annual Anti-Violence Rally and Parade on Sunday at the Youngstown City Schools Board of Education complex. Serina Chatman, student, and Penny Wells, organizer, will join host Madonna Chism Pinkard to discuss the program.

Next, Dennis Griffin, executive director of the Needle’s Eye, will discuss the organization’s first event to raise funds and honor the memory of founder Irma Davis.

Cedar Point will have HalloWeekends every weekend in October. Marketing representative Annie Zelm will discuss the event and how the community can take a last ride at the park for the season.

Finally, Judy Welsh of Men and Women United for Life will discuss the appearance of Alveda King, niece of civil-rights icon Martin Luther King Jr., at St. Charles Church in Boardman for a free event to encourage youths to adopt positive lifestyles.

“Increase the Peace” (6:30 tonight on MyYTV): Host Andrea Mahone will be joined by LaDonna Walker and Jackie Taylor, who will discuss the Youngstown Afterschool Alliance’s Oct. 25 “Lights On” project.

“Sunday Morning with Dee” (8 a.m. Sunday on WKBN-TV 27): Host Dee Crawford’s guests will be Adam Keck and Wayne Huggins of the Mahoning Valley Organizing Collaborative (MVOC), who will discuss their vision to improve quality of life through the creation and support of healthy neighborhoods.

Youngstown Area Community Theatre Alliance elected a new slate of officers. Serving two-year terms will be J.E.Ballantyne Jr., president; Sam Luptak Jr., vice president; Carla Napoli, second vice president; Gerri Jenkins, secretary; and Gary Deckant, treasurer.
