Unbeaten Brookfield held on to its position atop Division IV, Region 13 in the latest Ohio High School Athletic Association football computer ratings, which were released on Tuesday.
The Warriors (6-0) are the only Mahoning Valley team leading a region as the regular season enters Week 7. Brookfield, with 11.6167 points, has a nearly three-point lead over second-rated Beachwood in their region. Liberty (5-1) is fifth and Lakeview (4-2) is 10th in the same region.
Brookfield hosts Ashtabula Edgewood on Friday night.
The top eight teams in each of 24 regions across six divisions qualify for the playoffs.
Seventeen teams in the area are in contention for the playoffs.
Unbeaten Austintown Fitch (6-0) is fourth in Division I, Region 1. Warren Harding (5-1) is eighth and Boardman (4-2) is 12th in the same region.
Howland (5-1) is seventh in Division II, Region 5.
Unbeaten Niles McKinley (6-0), fresh off a thrilling 27-21 overtime victory against Canfield, is second in Divison III, Region 9.
Struthers (4-2) is fifth in Division III, Region 11. Poland (4-2) is eighth in the same region.
The area also is well-represented in Division V, Region 17. Unbeaten Crestview (6-0) is third, Columbiana (5-1) is seventh, Ursuline (3-3) is eighth and Campbell Memorial is 11th. Columbiana’s only loss was a 37-33 defeat against Crestview in the season opener for both teams.
Warren John F. Kennedy (5-1) is up to the fourth spot in Division VI, Region 21. Youngstown Christian School (5-1), which suffered its first loss, 42-25, on the road against unbeaten Sugarcreek Garaway last week, is fifth in the same region. YCS is idle this week.
Western Reserve (4-2) is ninth in the same region.
