9+ tons of drugs returned in Ohio Saturday in take-back collection

Published: Wed, October 3, 2012 @ 8:21 p.m.

COLUMBUS

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said that Ohioans returned more than nine tons of unneeded prescription drugs on Saturday during the Drug Enforcement Administration’s fifth national Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

There were 223 collection sites in Ohio, including several in the Mahoning Valley. All of the returned pills will be incinerated. Communities in all 50 states and the District of Columbia participated in the event.

“Thanks to excellent community participation in this event, thousands of pills will never get into the wrong hands,” said DeWine.
