City police investigating homicide on Atkinson Avenue

Less than 48 hours after a South Side murder police are investigating the city’s 26th homicide of the year. An unidentified man was killed at a house in the 1900 block of Atkinson Avenue this morning. Police were called to the home at about 5:30 a.m. They are releasing no information, however a man and woman were taken from the house for questioning.

A man at the house at 9 a.m. today refused to speak to the press.

26th murder already? Youngstown is on pace for 29 murders this year and gaining crown for murders per capita for 2012.

Whats going on with these people? What is the mayor and Police Chief doing about this? They are really good at saving money, but at what cost? More murders?

The mayor is great at talking about housing demolition, but its not helping at all. We have had a spike in murders since he's taken office. He has millions and millions of dollars he's throwing at housing demolition, but has no money to outfit the Youngstown Police properly. What kind of Officer are you trying to attract by paying them 30k a year? Are we starting to see the long term consequences of not recruiting the best, understaffing, and pinching pennies?

Those seem like good questions the next mayor needs to be asked, cause I'm tired of hearing about "accountability" and "demolition."

How can you blame the mayor or the police? So what theres been an increase since he took office. Its not his fault! It's not like they can post an officer on every street corner or in every driveway or home in the city. You never know when these thugs will strike. If you want to blame someone, blame the court that keeps letting these ignorant n****s out on bond and slapping them on the wrist to commit the next murder. But even that doesn't matter because as long as its black on black crime the city doesn't give a crap anyway.

Does Youngstown do anything they say they will? NO. what happened to the new landlord tenant laws? NOTHING. they dont inspect rental properties. People look at me like im an athiest or something when I say, I dont like gang members,, actually I F..... hate them. I see them walking up the street & I open my door and just glare at them.... theyre parents are on drugs, rough childhood, on & on & on with the (excuses). There is NO excuse.& it has 0 to do with a girl having a baby young. It has everything to do with the choices they make.No education. No 1.WHY? because no one cared for way too long, thats why.Now its way beyond hopeless, I hate the southside , & cannot wait to get the hell out of here.I see myself going to prison if I stay here, because let me say this,, If I EVER see one of these little bastards picking on an elderly person, or even LOOK at my daughter? Watch out. I am one crazy white white woman who cant stomache the sight of them, & they are obvious, even without theyre bandannas. The schools will eventually close because people send their kids to open enrollment or home school them ,,,if theyre smart.I sent my daughter to wilson for about 2 months in 8th grade & she was bringing home 5 grade work. Forget Youngstown. Its hit.
