What does the fire service need even more chiefs for ? The PFM report said "The Fire Department can provide the same level of service with fewer FTEs, resulting in savings both for short-term wages and benefits and long-term pension and benefits" .

They recommend reducing staff by 20 FTE's by 2017. They may be a great team , but we no longer have meaningful work for all of them .

A reduced & impoverished number of taxpayers are still carrying the staffing level & infrastructure of a much larger city that had 2 arsons daily . Little wonder the City's credit rating is in the toilet if departments answer calls for waste reduction with promotions ..
