Youngstown State football team misses playoffs

Published: Sun, November 18, 2012 @ 1:49 p.m.

The Youngstown State football team will not be in the playoffs.

The Penguins (7-4) were not among the 10 at-large teams selected on Sunday despite ending the year with a three-game win streak and opening the season with a win over Big East-member Pitt.

The Missouri Valley Football Conference had three teams advance: conference champion North Dakota State (the defending champions and No. 1 overall seed), South Dakota State and Illinois State. All three teams defeated the Penguins.

Well, at least we can say good luck to those teams in the MVC that beat the crap out YSU. When you can beat these teams in your conference, then you can go to the playoff. Maybe next year they can put it all together. The area fans know they have the talent in the players to do it.

I hear Coach Tressel would like another chance to coach. Maybe we could get him back. YSU has not been good since he left.
