Suspect flees Youngstown police, hides under North Side porch
A 31-year-old city man is facing charges of aggravated burglary, obstructing official business and driving under suspension after he fled the car he was driving and hid under a North Side porch.
An officer was driving north on Wick Avenue near Thornton Avenue on Saturday afternoon when he saw a car stopped in the eastbound lane of Thornton and the car’s two occupants run away from the vehicle, according to reports.
The driver left a shoe at the scene, later found to contain $500, records show.
Other officers arrived and one saw a suspect, later identified as the driver, Frank Bell, running through backyards.
Shortly after the officer lost sight of the suspect, dispatchers got a call from a homeowner at 1322 Logan Way that a man had run into his house, reports state.
The homeowner told dispatchers that the man left, then he and officers in the area heard a gunshot, but did not see who fired it.
Officers found Bell hiding under the front porch of 1312 Logan Way, wearing one shoe that matched the shoe left at the car and a jacket with $391 in its pocket, and arrested him, according to reports.
