Mayo: Jackson continues medical treatments

CHICAGO (AP) — Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. remains under the care of physicians for bipolar disorder, though he’s no longer a patient at Minnesota’s Mayo Clinic.

The hospital released a statement today on Jackson’s behalf. It reiterates Jackson left Mayo Tuesday and that he continues to cope with bipolar II. Mayo says Jackson’s treatment to manage depression is ongoing.

Jackson and his family say they’re grateful for the support and prayers.

No other details were released.

Jackson’s whereabouts remained unclear today. Neither his staff nor family has said if he’ll return to office after he won re-election last week. He didn’t appear in Chicago or Washington after leaving Mayo.

Jackson’s spokesman declined comment.

The Democrat has been on medical leave since June. He hasn’t communicated with the public beyond a voter robocall.
