Firefighters battle garage fire in Howland

HOWLAND

Personnel from several fire departments assisted Howland firefighters at a garage fire at 3529 Basswood Ave. NE Tuesday night. Departments from Bazetta, Champion, and the Youngstown Air Reserve Base helped extinguish the fire. It took 2 1/2 hours to extinguish the fire and complete overhaul operations, Howland firefighters said.

The fire, reported at 7:09 p.m., caused about $25,000 damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Basswood is off of North River Road near North Park Avenue.
