Police in Erie County say a head-on crash at about 8:40 a.m. Sunday in Waterford Township killed both drivers. Troopers said a car heading north near Route 97 veered into the southbound lanes and collided with another car, killing 46-year-old Karen Riedel of Corry and 68-year-old Ronald Oberlander of Waterford. Two young children in Riedel’s car had minor injuries.
In Venango County on Sunday night, police said, a car ran a stop sign in Cranberry Township and collided with a tractor-trailer heading east on Route 157. Police told the Erie Times-News that two people in the car, 78-year-old John Zimmerman of Oil City and 78-year-old Ann Jones of Franklin, were killed.
